DENBIGH ROAD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Oct. 19.—The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on the 17th hist., when the usual business was transacted, the most important being the consideration of tho inspector's annual report, which was mosp satisfactory, being the host report the school has" obtained for a number of years. This reflects great credit on our teacher, who has spared no pains during tho year to bring about' such good results. It is intended to hold tho annua] school concert about tho middle of November, when a good programme is to be presented to the public; several well-known Stratford musicians having kindly consented to assist. I regret having to report tho departure from our midst of Miss V. Mills, who has boon placed in charge of tho Mushers School, Uniti. She carries with her the best wishes of all tho Denbigh folk . I am glad to say that the effort to open tho Derby Road between the Radnor and the Denbigh is likely to prove successful. Recently Mr. Mills from the Denbigh and Mr. F. Ivecshy from the Radnor journeyed to AVellington to interview the Minister of Public Works concerning the granting of a subsidy towards the cost of this work, which, when completed, will prove a great lioon to the settlers on both roads. Tho Minister gave the deputation a favourable reply. Invitations to a social evening to ho ■given on Friday night hy Mrs. Ivecshy, of the Radnor, have been issued to several Denbigh people. AV« have recently suffered a great loss by the death or Mr. Peter Lnclors, who ivas one of tho pioneers of the district, having resided in the neighbourhood for the last thirty years. He was well known for his generosity and kindliness. We have lately received a further addition to our members by tho arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Woodman and family, and Mr. Wright, who have come to reside on the upper end of tho road. Work at the Egmnnt quarries is to he resumed in about a week’s time. Tho temporary closing of this work in tho winter has greatly inconvenienced numbers of workmen in tho distric.
