(From Our Own Correspondent,) Oct. 18.—At the schoolroom on Friday, October 1-1, Mr. V. Darke presided over a representative meeting of settlors to discuss various matters, concerning the Best Office, proposed to'-i----plione, and other business. Tho chairman called attention to the new piano which had been bought for the use of tho school, and invited subscriptions towards a fund for repaying the purchasers, to which several responded. He also announced a euchre party in aid of tho fund on October 21. A vote of thanks to tho chairman terminated the meeting. In connection with the back-block mission, Mr. Ayrton hold a service in the school on Sunday last, and notwithstanding the inconvenient hour (11 a.m.) a fair number of settlers attended. .Mr. Ayrton stated ho hoped to Hold one monthly, and would alter the time to 2 p.m. It may be of interest to some of the settlors to mention that this month is the second anniversary of two things, viz., tho opening of the .school and the installation of the first milking machine in tho settlement.
