WELLINGTON, Oct. 24, _ A deputation of the local bodies in Opunake district waited on the Ministers to-day to urge tho cpnstruction of a railway from Opunake to the main line. The deputation stated that the bodies interested were prepared to guarantee the cost of construction. The Premier said .that when they asked for definite , information they would not get it, nor would any other deputation before tho Public Works Statement wag brought down. Unless the country went ip for an enormous borrowing policy it could not possibly meet all the demands for railways. The Government would do tho country a great injury if it launched out in response te pressing requests. There would be no trouble about getting tho money. The question was' how much the Government should borrow. He could make no promise nor statement whatever. . . Tho Hon. R. M'Konzio promised to visit. Taranaki.
