CONCILATION COUNCIL.
THE SADDLERS’ DISPUTE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Out. 21, The sitting of the Council of Conciliation set down for to-day to consider the dispute between the master saddlers and the employees has been - adjourned until 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Council met this morning, Mr. P. Hally (Conciliation Commissioner) presiding, the assessors being Messrs. W. Wiggins and C. H. Wycherley (employers), D. W. Murray, W. Eindlay, and T. A. Rabe (employees). The Hon.J. Barr also appeared on behalf of the employees. The employers’ assessors desired that Mr. W. A. Grenfell should represent their side, and as the representatives of the men stated that they had not received any official notice of the sitting of the Council it was decided to adjourn until Tuesday to allow the union time to state its case and Mr. Grenfell to appear for the employers. The principal points in dispute are the rate of wages and the piece log. The men desire that the wages should bo increased from Is per hour to Is 3d, and that the piece work log should be abolished.
