Mr. Merriraan, in a speech at Malmesbury, said that the one object of tho Progressives, of whom Dr. Jameson is a leader, was to make money to make the party dominant and to keep tho people under. He believed that the South African Party was preventing, a recrudescence of racialism 'and added that if a party was conducted on racial Hues it was doomed to extinction.
