HARBOUR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. Tho New Plymouth Harbour Board combined its usual monthly meeting with its annual meeting to-day.’ Present—Messrs. J. B. Connett (Chairman), N. King, E. Dockrill, Price, Wilkinson, Hughes and 'Maxwell. SHIPPING AT THE PORT. Captain W. J. Newton, narhour master, reported that for the four weeks ending February 12, the shipping at tho port had been; —inwards 27 steamers, outwards 27 steamers. The aggregate gross tonnage amounted 26,700 tons. Imports amounted to 3846 tons, made up of 3225 tons of general cargo, 432 tons of private coal, and 189 tons of railway coal. The'exports amounted to 1381 tons. The dredge worked 19 days, making 1501 trips, and removing approximately 8277 yards of sand. HARBOUR WORKS. Tho foreman of Harbour Works reported that during the past month fifteen'new braces and two now chafing pieces had been fixed in the old wharf, and tho tarring of tho deck had been completed. The engineshed had been re-covered with _ new iron, and the roofs of tho adjoining dwelling and stores had been painted. Repairs bad been effected at the harbour master’s residence. The foundations of tho mixing house had’ 1 been cleared' of sand and repairs effected there also. All the piles, squared timber. and rails repuired for the new coal bin had been prepared, the necessary openings had been cut in the breakwater, and the driving of the piles had been commenced. .
