RIFLE SHOOTING.

THE TRENTHAM MEETING. / Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 15. A record entry is expected for the Rifle Association’s meeting at Trcnthain. There will be many changes as compared with former years. Ono of the most important changes is tho provision of 12 additional Ralstono targets for long distance shooting on tho Soimnervillo 'range. This gives 37 targets of this class and a like number for tho matches at shorter range. Throughout the championship series seventy-tour targets will continually he in use. On March 4 a rifle club and volunteer match, at 9.20, will probably be fired, in addition to several service events. Tho following day will bo devoted to tho first matches in the championship series. Tho final 50 ■who are'to. shoot off for the beTe, tire on Friday, March 11. GUARDS CHAMPION BELT. The Taranaki Guards have concluded their competition for tho company's champion belt, 'the last ranges being 900yds. and 1000yds., ton shots at each. This shoot also counts as a handicap shoot for Mr. Messenger’s gold medal. The, champion bolt was won by Private Grover, with a grand total of 337, Private Nicholls being runner-up with 328.
