THE SAVAII VOLCANO.
A VIOLENT ERUPTION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 13. Tho steamer Katanga, which arrived yesterday, reports that tho Savaai volcano at Samoa has been unusually active of late. A severe earthquake was felt in tho group at the end of January. Tho seismograph in Mulinuu, Samoa, has registered . several severe earthquake shocks lately, tho whole of them being within a few miles of tho group. On Wednesday, 19th ult., a violent eruption occurred, which lasted for the space of about sixty minutes. Tho centre of the shock was probably in the Solomons.
