FIRES.
BLAZE AT ROTORUA. Per Press Association, ROTORUA, Feb. 13. A fire broke out in Collotij's buildings this porning at half-past one. The brigade'was on; the scone in good time, and, having a good pressure of water, subdued the flames in half an hour. ThcT premises were occupied by Chirm, ■tailor; Parkorson, photographer, and Manson, draper. The stock of all three shops was badly damaged Jby water, and part of the shop occupied by Parkersou was damaged by fire, which appears to .have originated in the . roof. The building is situated opposite". the Grand Hotel. Manson and Parkorson are heavy losers. Chinn’s stock was not a very largo one and was not insured. i ■ INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. HOKITIKA, Feb. 14. An outbreak of fire was discovered at four o’clock this morning,in an unoccupied cottage owned by Mrs. Murphy, Stafford Street. Two rooms were gutted, and incendiarism was suspected. The building is insured for £IOO in the United Office, and the furniture, which is stored, for £23, in the same office. On Sunday morning attempts were made to burn Hungorford’s Upper Bridge crossing, but little damage was done.
