DUNEDIN WOOL SALES. Per Press Association.DUNEDIN, Fob. 10. The third wool sale of the season was concluded to-night, a total of 3412 bales being submitted. Holfbreds were a little firmer than at tho previous sales, but merinos were irregular, and pieces wore a shade easier, except for a few choice lots. The demand was chiefly confined to fellmongers. A largo portion of the wool was heavy in condition, and some was tended and of poor quality. Halfbred sold up to 13|d per lb, crossbred up to 12d, halfbred ewe pieces up to 12$d, and merino to 13|d. NEWTON KING. Mr. Newton King’s weekly report states;—At the Haymarket on Saturday a fair number of pigs were penned and sold readily at good prices. Weanors mode 7s to 11s, stores 15s to 19s, Shetland pony £8 ss. At Urenui on Monday there was a good yarding and a large attendance of buyers. Young stock, of which several linos were penned, sold readily. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a fair yarding. WEBSTER BROS. Messrs. Webster Bros, report; Mart,—At the mart on Saturday we had every pen filled to over crowding with all classes of poultry. Contrary to expectations prices were decidedly advanced on last week’s quotations. In all over 300 birds wore penned and prices closed as under;—Young chicks 5d to 7d, ducklings 9d to Is Id, ducks Is 5d to 3s, according to ago and quality, hens Is 2d to Is 7d, good young hens up to 2s Id, pullets 2s 6d to 3s 3d each, geese 3s, guinea fowls 3s 6d. Meat.—The meat sale was well patronised and joints sold readily at the hammer. Fruit.—This has been pouring in at tho rate of over 300 boxes a day. On Friday from Nelson we had just on 600 boxes. Hawke’s Bay is not sending forward large consignments whilst the northern districts have eased off somewhat. Prices still remain about the same, prime fruit still realising good money.
