EGMONT RACING CLUB. SUMMER MEETING. SECOND DAY. Fine weather again prevailed for the second day’s racing of the Egmont Club’s summer meeting, and the attendance was in every way satisfactory. The gate receipts for the two days amounted to about £320. The amount invested on the machine was £7908/ against £6848 for the corresponding day last year. In addition twelve bookmakers were licensed. The racing, as on the opening day, was interesting throughout, the finishes always being exciting. The positions were unchanged until turning into tho straight when Chase Mab and Deacon were running neck and neck and Hiniitangi right on to their quarters. Another fine finish resulted in favour of Chaso Mab by half a length, a length and a half the difference between second and third. Time, 2min. 2£sec. Golden Glow was slow in moving off. At the first jump Mount Cook and Reumao were together, with Playmate half a dozen lengths away and Golden Glow a similar distance still further behind. This order was maintained passing tho stand, and then Golden Glow improved his position, but only momentarily, Playmate going all out after the leaders. He was in front three furlongs from homo, but Reumac came again, and took tho last with a slight advantage, which he increased for the distance, winning comfortably by a couple of lengths, Golden Glow six lengths behind beat Mount Cook by a head for fourth place.
