. MASTERS AND MEN. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 28. The conference betwoon representatives of manufacturers and employees in tbe boot trade, with Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation pommissionor, in tho chair, lasted for several hours yesterday. It is understood that Mr. Hally succeeded in bringing tho parties closer together than has been tho case since the dispute was initiated some montlis ago. Several compromises and suggestions were framed for submission to the Arbitration Court. Exact details are of a confidential nature and for the use of the court only, but it is understood that the issues have been so narrowed down that a satisfactory award by the court is practically assured. Mr. Hally was warmly thanked by the parties foV us assistance and tho ability displayed by him in connection with the proceedings.
