ENTERTAINMENTS

"THE LITTLE BREADWINNER."

The splendid interpretation of Mr. | A. J. Campbell's popular play "The Little Breadwinjter" at tho Theatre Royal laßt night, by the Meynell and Gunn Company, was derorving of a much better patronage. "The Little Breadwinner" has been presented in New Plymouth on previous occasions, but never with greater success than last night. The company is a strong one, and each character is well sustained. The story is to well known to need repetition here, but there is always something that fascinates in this most charming and delightful of child plays, and from rise to fall of curtain interest is fully maintained. Little Queenie Williams, the clever child actress, who appeared in the mame part, constituted herself a prime favourite with the audience and pourtrayed her part with even more success than when tress, who appeared in fhe name part, acter. Her singing of "Daddy" in the second act was sweetly pretty, and deserved to the full the enthusiastic applause it was accorded. The dressing and staging of the piece were admirable.
