COLLISION IN DEVON STREET.

YOUNG MAN INJURED

About 11.30 o'clock fast night a wrious accident occurred in Devon Street, between Liardet and Clover Streets. A motor car, owned and driven by Mr. A. Alexander, collided with a spring tiar driven by a .young man named James son of Mr. W. James, manager of Mr. Newton King's Bell Block farm. Jamewas thrown out and seriously mjur.'d. Exactly how the collision occurred i; not quite clear yet, there l>eini>; conflicting accounts of the affair. Jair.es who had with him a man named Ho^g. was going home from town, with several sacks of grain in the cart. It is stater that he had no lights burning and uji somewhat to the off-side of the road The motor car, which seems to ha\c had lights burning, was coming into New Plymouth. The shafts of tin latter vehicle were smashed,, while tin horse broke away, uninjured. The front of the ni<-to> car was knocked about, but none of tlu machinery was injured. Mr. Alexander and another occupant of the ear escape*! without injuries. James was found lying nnconsmiv on the road. He was carried on to th< footpath, and Dr. Fookes was summoned. Dr. Fookes sent him to the hospital, where he was found to be <?uf fering from concussion of ih« brim This morning he was conscious and progressing favourable .
