Sir. — Some time sime a loUfv appeared in your columns, signed "Ratopa.\or." objecting to tho expenditure on that brick wall along the Hospital, grounds in Daw son. Street. Your footnote defends tho work on tho score of economy, becauco it wou!d, you said, cost £6 to £8 a yoar to maintain the live fence. Now anyone who knows anything about the practical part of maintaining such a fence would put tho cost at about one-fourth of your price. But this by tho way. Now for the sequel. The Medical Officer says that a tluldrcn'b ward is urgently needed, and ot course no money, because what might have done a great deal towards but-h s ward has boon unprofitably Mink in a brick wall.
