HAWERA HOSPITAL CASE.

THE INQUIRY.

MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT EXONERATED.

At the usual meeting of the Haw era Hospital Board yesterday a further inquiry into the circumstances connected with the death of Mrs. Brosnan was held. The case was before the Board recently and after a lengthy hearing it was decided to adjourn the proceedings in order to hear tho statements of Dr. Barron and Mrs. Wallis (nurse, of Opnnake, who 'accompanied deceased to Hawera). The Hawera Star states that jjt yesterday's inquiry, after hearing statements made by Dr. Barron and a sworn and written deposition by Mrs. Wallis, Mr. Macßeynolds moved:— "That, ifter hearing the evidence, this Board is of opinion that the Medical Superintendent, having admitted the patient into the Hawera District Hospital, was not justified in ordering her to be removed until he had seen her." Mr. Duirs seconded. Mr. Marx mov«i v as an amendment, and Mr. Goodland seconded:— "That, in the opinion of this Board, the course adopted by the Medical Superintendent was in accordance with the regulations of this hospital, and whilo the Board deplore the whole circumsUrces attending the conveyance to the hospital and after, they are fully satisfied th^.t no blame attaches to Dr. MacOibbon.' The amendment was carried, the voting being: For 5, against 2.
