STEAMERS IN COLLISION.

STORM AND WAKATU.

LYTTELTON, March 26. Thejsmall coastal steamers Storm and Wakatu » collided last night off Motunau Island. The Storm was bound from Lyttelton to Wanganui, and the Wakatu was coming from Kaikoura toLyttelton. [ 'The exact circumstances "of the accident are not known. The vessels seem to have headed at one another, and in an attempt to get clear the Wakatu struck the Storm's stern ■on the starboard side., There is a gaping hole in the Wakatu's bow, whilst the Storm had her side broken down above the deck. No serious damage was done. Both returned tp Lyttejton.
