WEST END SCHOOL.

At the West End School the break-ing-np ceremony took place this afternoon. Owing to other engagements his Worship the Mayor (Mr (f. Tiseh) was unable to present the prizes. In iho Mayor's absence Mr H. Gilbert (Chairman of the school committee) marie the presentation, and addressed the children. The usual songs that accompany a function of this kind were rendered by the children. Though a great number of attendance prizes were given, the record of the children in this department was not so good as last year. The committee desires to tender its t hanks to Mr Newton King and to Mr Bhinehett for their gifts of lollies. Scrambles were held and the small fry gathered much amusement from them. PRIZE LIST.
