There was not a' laggard in the Taranaki team. All the forwards played pluckily, but 4 naturally "Were beaten in nearly every department. The scrum work of the Wellington pack was much superior. All round, in" fact; the Wellington forwards were cleverer and faster. O'Sullivan and Tjamuiwere a little the best of the amber vanguard. Of the Wellington forwards the.. two Wilsons, and Rush were the best. Tom Sheahan as wing forward .did some good work at times, but got off-side too frequently. The Taranaki backs, on the whole, played well. Thurston at half did a lot of useful work. Several times he got passes away to' his five-eighths v t ery quickly and surely. Cameron played very well. Beamish surprised many. He played an excellent t game. Con Sheahan played a very sound and sometimes brilliant game. His try was the finish to a very fine piece of work. Dive has played better games than he did to-day. Buckland shaped well. In the first spell Stohr at full^baqkj played a fine game. In the second spell he was not so successful. Of the Wellington backs Roberts, Green, McLeod, and Ryan were the besij.^ Green.., played splendidly at five-eighths. Mr Edgar Wylie, of Wellington, refereed. ...
