WELLINGTON, Sept. 10.

The following team will represent Wellington next Saturday in the match against Taranaki -.—Full-back, J. Ryan; three-quarters, Matheson, Mitchinson, and Eversen ; five-eighths, Mageo and McLeod ; half, Roberts; forwards, Hamilton, Ready, Wilson (2), Rush, Shadbolt and Alexander; wing-forward, Gardiner. The emergencies are Green, Osborne, and Cameron.

[The official statement regarding the reason for the match being arranged is that it will keep the Taranaki team in condition for next Thursday's match against Otago. It is curious that, while the match will bo in progress at the Athletic Park in Wellington, a Northern Union game between Auckland and Wellington teams will be played at Petone. It is very evident that tho Wellington Rugby Union has arranged the Taranaki match only as a couuter-attraction to the other. It is not a wise proceeding. — "Harpastum."] The following team lias been chosen to represent the Auckland ' Rugby League against Wellington, at Wellington, on Saturday, and Taranaki, at New Plymouth, next Thursday, under lliley; three-quarters Rowe, Dillamore, Redwood; iive-eightlis, Tyler and Asher; half, R. Wynyard; forwards, Dunning, Mackrell, Trevarthen, McDonald, Hooper, and Barclay; emergency, Chorley. Tlio team passed through New Plymouth to-day.
