NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT.

The following report will be presented to the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Club to be held -to-night : — In presenting its annual report your committee has to congratulate the club on the splendid success achieved during the past season. Your East team won the senior championship, which carries with it the Robertson cup, and your junior eleven w&te also successful in winning the junior championship. It is to. be regretted that, through the country teams failing to play their return matches, the West team was deprived of almost all its matches in the second round. A marked improvement was shown during the season especially in bowling. The finances of the club are in a healthy state. Notwithstanding the heavy e"xpenditure, a gain of £2 0s 8d was made aver running expenses. This,' with the balance brought forward from 1 the preceding year, leaves your club with a credit balance of £8 3s sd. The thanks of , the club are due to the Hon. O. Samuel, Messrs A. E. Watkins, D. Teed and Jas. Smith for donations. In addition to the cash balance J the club has material to the value of about £20. It is pleasing to note that, with two exceptions, all subscriptions were paid. The Recreation Sports Ground will be available for cricket this season, and your committee has also engaged the Tukapa ground. A call was made during 'the season for donations towards laying down practise wickets in the Recreation Grounds, and was responded to very liberally. Your committee regrets that several of your members have left the- district since last season, including Mr E. O. Lightband, who was a member of the club for several years, and last year successfully captained the East team. On the eve of his departure the members met and presented him with a valuable token as a mark of appreciation. It will be proposed to make Mr Lightband a lifemember. The bat presented by Dr. Walker for the player gaining the highest batting average, during the season has been won by Mr A. S. Hasell.
