TATARAIMAKA.

(From a Correspondent.)

August 1-I.— A successful social whs held in the Methedist Church, Tataraimaka, on Tuesday evening. The following programme was given: — Anthem, "Gather them in," Okato choir; song, Miss Wilson, of Okato, recitation, Mr. B. Pearce, "Lifeboat"; song, Miss Oxenhum; recitation, Miss Pearce, ''Somebody's Darling"; song, Mr. Buit ; duet, Miss Wilson and Mr. Tooke; recitation, Mr. B. Pearce, "If wo only understood"; song, "Forget-me-not/' Miss Ashley, of Okato; recitation, Mr. Buit, "The Fireman's Wedding" ; duet, "Vacant Chair," Miss Bertha and Miss Isabel Ashley ; song, Miss Oxenham. Mr. Jury was- present with his phonograph, and delighted the audience- with several selections. The Rev. A. Lay bourne presided, and in a happy speech told of the object of the gathering. Ho welcomed the many new residents to the district, and on behalf of the older settlers wished them all prosperity, and hoped they would all work harmoiiiusly together for the good of tho district and the cause of God. At the close of the programme supper was provided by the ladies.
