MINING.
The Auckland directors of tho Champion Mines, Ltd- purpose visiting the mine during Easter to decide upon some matters concerning future operations. Tho Messrs Barker, the sawyers from Inglewood engaged to cut timber for the battery buildings, have reached the mine. The ore from No. 1 rise in the Golden Belt mino, which adjoins the Champion property, ,has given assay results of £5 4s, and that from No. 2 rise goes £2 Is per ton. The reef in the winze looks well. Three contracts have been let for stoping above No. 1 level. Last week 36 tons of ore were crushed, yielding 390z of hot-water squeezed amalgam. These shares sold at Is 9d in Auckland on Tuesday*.
