The prospect of Rugby football in Australia for the coming season appears to be particularly good. ' Mr. G. 13. Booth, of the "All Black" team, when speaking to a gathering of footballers in Sydney last week, expressed himself surprised at the considerable amount of interest taken. <in,; football all over _the State. There ate many inducements for good players 'this- season". Two teams — one amateur and the othej professional — are to leave ■ for England at the close of the season, and two New Zealand teams are play a series of matches in New South' yTales. These fixtures added ttk.' the visit, of th© English amvttenf tfeamfandh inter-State contests are calculated* to give jan impetus^ tp the^aiifcr. &-<•>,- The Sydney Daily Telegraph is of "opinion that, the pTof essiohal movement would not receive much ' support this season at any £ate. \D\iring his /stay) iijTAus-, tralia Mr Booth lia& delivered several lectures to football players on health matters and the general rules of training and good living. He 'particularly condejrined excesses ot6 -all .kinds, ; especially in cigarette smoking. In viow of the roturn of the moneymakers, here is an apposite paragraph from the Athletic News:— "The bal-ance-sheet of the New Zealand 'All Blacks,' which was adopted by the joint committees after being , audited by a professional accountant at the end of the tour, would no doub£ be interesting reading, but the particulars are for 'private circulation' only. Wei shall not, however, be very wide of ttiej mark when wo say that the tour has l resulted in the colonials receiving a sum but little short of £10,000, andthat tho Northern Union clubs inter-, ested have received £5000, but out of which sum they (the N.U. clubs) have had to pay all the expenses of their respective matches. As the union only| guaranteed their visitors a sum of £3000 for the trip, the joint meeting was naturally ono for congratulatory speeches. As the tour was conducted on socialistic principles of share wad share alike, TurtiH, the full-back, wlio has played in thirty-four games, receives neither more nor. less, than Watkins, the forward, whose injury an the practice games has prevented him taking part in even one match during tho tour." Tho following will represent Tukftpa juniors in the match against the seniors on Fnday:— Bullott. Webster, Shields, Julian. 'Standring, Finn, Bnllbtt, Jones, Glynes, Perry, Coker, Sturmey, MacAl'him; MbNatty, McGiven, Hall, Dive, Charteris.
