NO LICENSE.

TARANAKI LEAGUE.

The annual meeting of the Taranaki No-License League was held ,iin the Queen Street 1 Primitive Methodist Church l^st night. The Rev. J. Guy presided. The meeting was the largest ever held under the auspices of the League. The reports of the last year's work were considered satisfactory- The bal-ance-sheet showed the accounts to be in credit. f . * Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: — President, Rev. J. Guy; secretary, Mr W. Bigelow; assistant secretary, Mr G. H. Maunder ; . treasurer, Mr T. Frethey ; executive ' committee, Messrs H. Good,acre, Cocker, K-. 3\ Maunder, , Collis, and C. E. BellrjhgerV and two representatives each from the following: — Good Templars, Rechabites, Woman's Christian Temperance Union, Young Men's No-license Club, and Young Women's No-license Club. % Discussions took place concerning the organisation of the 'district for the coming poll.. It vas decided, "That it be a recommendation- from this League to all No]ice.nse' Councils and Leagues to make the Prince, .of Wales' Birthday (June 3) ' a no-license meeting, day throughout the Dominion, and that a copy ofthis resolution be sent to all leagues and cou nojls. " The meeting was adjourned until the 28th met. Those present then retired to the schoolroom. Miss Dowling gave a violin selection and recited "The Broken Jug." Miss* Goodacre also contributed s a pleasing item. Sapper followed, provided by the ladies. Opportunity was taken to introduce the Rev. J. Laird. He expressed entire sympathy with the cause, and great pleasure at seeing such a hearty meeting.
