' !■*; On March 15th and 16th Rarotong* was visited by a severe aortli^ly j&ub, the barometer falling to 29J1*. *ff* wind was accompanied by a high aea> which rolled into the harbours. Tm schooner Vaite, which was .moorett ,vi Avatra harbour, was for some time in danger of drifting from her moorinjES and going ashore, but luckily her i*ii» ropes Hold.
