ARBITRATION COURT'S AWARD;. A STRIKE PREVENTION CLAtJ^fc.l Per Press Association; * '' T , WELLINGTON, April 12£ An award, the outcome of the dis§ute between the Wellington GaS tokers and Cokers' Union afed the; Wellington Gas Company, was to-day filed' with Mr A. Stubbs, Oerlpaf. Awards. It is to take effect on April 13, and continue in force for a -year. It ae,ts out that . a full week's work shall consist of seven shifts of .eight hours per shift. A leading stoker shall be paid, not less than 10s j6d per shift, and an ordinary stoker npt less than 9s 9d per shift. Holidays are >to be. recognised as follows:— New Year's Day,* An*, niversary Day, Good Friday, 4 Easter Monday, Prince of Wales'" Birtbjday; Labour Day, Birth oi the , Sovereign, Christmas Day, ,Bo»ii^, Parana- Pic? Nic Day, if observed ■&« a holiday in the gasworks. .Work done on these days snail be paid for at the rate of double time.. The number of retorts to bej drawn, and charged in such shift shall not exceed twenty for each stpkpr.J Whenever stokers are Tequired to* den full work on Sundays or holidays, the employer shall provide a man to trim coke from- the truck tips at least four \ hours during the; day. The employer shall provide accommodation to the satisfaction' of the Inspector of Factories to enable the workers to. change their clothes and have their meals apart from the other employees. A sufficient ! supply of shale shall be kept in the retort-house to meet the requirements on Sundays, holidays, and, nights. The union shall do all m its power to prevent any strike by any or the workers affected by the award, and if any strike shall occur in which any members of the uniozTshall take part, such strike s^hall be prima facie evidence th,at the union has committed a. breach; of its duty. The Court .reserves to itself full power, in the event of any such strike occurring, to suspend, on the application of the employer, tlje operation $f all or any of the provisions of the~ award for- such' period as the Court may think proper. •„
