HUNTING.
A preliminary meet under the auspices of the North Taranaki Hunt Club was held at Mr Gus Sole's farm yesterday afternoon. There was a large niuster, between sixty und seventy being mounted. The hounds ran well, and some good sport was obtained, two "pussies" being bowled over. Among those present were : Messrs P Sole (huntsman) on Black Jack; A. Cliff (master) on Kiri ; A. H. Halconibe (deputy) on Tess; A. H. Street (whip); Miss May Sole on Ranganui ; Mesdames A. Cliff, F. Pratt, C. Webb, Miss Quigley ; Mr W. Boulton on Alpine ; W. Fitzroy on Tui ; J. H. Street on Parawai; E. Julian on Reynardian; and Messrs C. Matthews, R. Pigott, F. Pratt, 15. C. Hodgman, J. B. Mabin', T. Parker, W. and J. Thomason, Gus Sole, , George Sampson, W, Free and a number of others. Amongst those driving were Messrs^ S. McGuinness (president), Mr and Mrs C. Jenkins, and Mr and Mrs N. Hill. , -The Club's opening meet will be held at Urenui on 23rd inst., when members will be; entertained by Messrs G. McGuinness and A. H. Hallcombe. Regular fortnightly meets will be held until the close of the season.
