LAWN TENNIS.
The lawn tennis writer of the Evening Post says it is generally understood that the proposal to send a New Zealand ladies' team to Sydney has fizzled out, owing to the New Zealand Associa-j tibn being unable to meet the whole j of the -expenses* ft seems that the transit amount — some £70 — could be found ; but the accommodation expenses (about £30) were wanting. Now South Wales offered £10, but. seemingly the New Zealand Association , expected that the Sydney bowy would arrange for the accommodation of the New Zealand ladies, as was done for- the New South Wales ladies when the> came to New Zealand. The executive will not explain the position at present, but there is no doubt that tho trip is off unless the unexpected is received by tho next Sydney mail.
