JENKINS, MATTHEWS & PIGOTT'S REPORT.

I Slessrs Jenkins, Matthews and Pigott j report : — We held our opening stock 1 sale at our new Okau yards oh Fridayy ! and had a very fair muster considering i the unsettled state of the weather. The yards, which measure 90ft by 210 ft, are divided into 13 pens, with a 12ft race running right through the centre. The gates leading to each pen are so arranged that drafting is a very easy matter.- There are also a considerable number of spare hurdles with which the accommodation can be greatly increased. These yards wore erected at !the solicitations of the Tongaporutu, Okau, and other settlers, and, judging from the encomiums expressed, our erI fort to further the prosperity of the ! district is fully appreciated. The yards are on Mr Scott* sproperty, about 30 chains from the Main North Road. The following prices were realised : — Calves 12s 6d to 13s 6d, 18 months heifers 37s 6d, store cows 52s 6d to 60s, fat cows 73s to 82s 6d> springing heifers 60s, two-year heifers 4l)s, 18 months to two-year steers 575, four-year steers £5 13s 6d, bulls 60s to 735, stags 70s, j wethers 12s 6d, f .m. ewes 8s 6d, woolly 1 lambs 6s, horses 32s 6d to £7.
