A BIG SCHEME.

— RECLAMATION IN WELINGTON ! HARBOUR. t ! P«r Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 3. It is considered practically certain that the proposal which has been before committees of the City Council and the Harbour Board to reclaim a wide area 1 of Evans Bay will be taken up shortly' and eventually^ carried out. The idea is to win from the sea at the head of Evans Bay, an inlet of the harbour, land suitable for the carrying on of industries requiring considerable ground space ,it being considered that the pro- i vision of such land would stimulate industries now in operation and encourage' the establishment of others. The scheme involves the reclamation of over a hundred acres.with the erection of wharves, facilities for boatbuilding, etc. The Harbour Board has agreed to the scheme, and it is anticipated that the Council will endorse it at next Thursday's meeting.
