EGG-LAVING.

NORTH ISLAND COMPETITION. The twenty-second week of the competition promoted by the North Island Egg-laying Competition Association, Ltd., was concluded on Friday, October 4th. The number of eggs laid during the week was 2475 — 123 more than in any previous week. This gave an average of 30.18 eggs per pen. The total number of eggs laid since May Ist now stands at 33,004. The prize of £1 Is for most eggs laid by one pen during the month of September was won by Pen No. 31 (Mrs F. Bostock, Te Puke, ißrowni ßrown Leghorns), with a total of 141. The highest layings for the week were — T. B. Brookes, Clarendon, S. Australia, White Leghorns, 37; M. Roach, Hamilton, Langshans, 37; W. J. i Brooks, Mount Albert, Silver Wyan|dottes, 36.
