MARLBOROUCH'S NEEDS.

At a public meeting held in the Town Hall under the auspices of the Marlborough Land and Railway League, speeches were made by the president and members, and by prominent settlers, in favour of the speedy completion of the railway, and the construction of a new wharf at Picton. Resolutions embodying these views were carried, and it was decided to ask th? League to organise a deputation from local bodies to interview the Prime Minister and urge the necessity of the constructibn of the East Coast line and a new wharf at Picton. The opinion oi speakers generally was against the cooperative system, and in favour of letting the work by contract.
