The Johannesburg correspondent of The Times states that the main object of the Government's Liquor Bill is to attract a larger number of Kaffirs to the Rand mines. The correspondent con|ffifanrshe support of the brewers and a certam number of. smining men is not sufficient to carry the Bill in the face of the growing storm qf opposition.
(The Bill proposes^*) .ajlow beer to be supplied to natives working in the Rand mines. The Nonconformist churches are leading an agitation' against the proposal.)
