The Truant Officer (Mr A. Hookor) piesented a report dealing with thy work carried out u rider the School At- * tendance Act for the quarter ending June 30th. He had visited thirty-three of the Board's schools and seven private schools. He had posted sixty-one notices, one of which was returned, and he had personally called oil a number of parents and pointed out the risks of not sending their children regularly. During the quarter he had had Court cases at Stratford, Inglewood, and NewPlymouth. In all forty-eight parents were summoned, and fifty-seven informations heard. Forty-six convictions were recorded and eleven charges withdrawn or dismissed. The fines amounted to £5 7s 6d.
