AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT.

. (Per .Press Association^ „ t , AUCKLAND, Jpty. 22. The Auckland Provincial Amateur Boxing Championship Meeting here this evening. The spprtf provided was good — the best seen here for some time. The Northern Boxing Association is conducting the contests. The initial contests resulted as follows : — Bantam Weight — W. Butland, Bst 2*lb, defeated J. Ward, Bst 41b j J. Montague, Bst lib, defeated W. Gibson, Bst2lb Feather-weight— W. Hogan, Bst 131 b, defeated E. D. Bartley, Bst 81b. ' Light-weight — J. Dean, 9st 101 b, defeated W. J. Wehb, 9st, 131 b. Middle-weight— W. Miller* lOst 121 b, defeated R. McCoy, list OJlb. Heavy-weight — J. R. Hunter, 13st ,31b, was defeated by E. Thornton, 12st 71b. T. Lewis, lOst 101 b, and H. McNeil, 12st, put up the best contest of the evening. A fourth roiind had to be fought. Lewis was awarded the fight. The contests will be continued next Monday evening.
