At the McLean Regatta, R. Arnst won a £50 handicap, with five seconds start from the scratch man, Thoroughgood, and defeated W. Mitchell, sixt* seconds start, by a length. Arnst -had previously followed a 2J mile race between John Mitchell and John Searie, and when 100 yards from the finish spurted ahead of Searle, whom Mitchell defeated by ten lengths.
