AUCKLAND, July 19.

Afy a meeting of t]bie Harbour Board, a report was read from Captain Duder (harbourmaster) regarding the proposal to place luminous buoys in Rangitoto Channel. He expressed the opinion that the best way to light the channel was by erecting a new lighthouse about 2000 ft. north-east, quarter north from Bean Rock. It was decided to send the report to the Marine Department. The Harbour Board has accepted J. H. Adams and Co.'s tender at £25,430 for five steel sheds on the railway wharf, subject to galvanised iron being provided for roofing.
