A DEPUTATION OF STRIKERS.
HOW REPATRIATION OF CHINESE WILL AFFECT TRADE.

Receiving a strikers' deputation, Mr Botha (the Premier) refused to promise a compulsory Arbitration Bill on the ground that, as it could not be retrospective, it therefore would not affect the present strike. LONDON, June 28.
Renter's Johannesburg correspondent states that the principal mining and other business houses are retrenching in view of the forthcoming repatriation of Chinese. Land and house property has considerably depreciated. The whites employed on the Rand have decreased by 2000 owing to the strike.
