HURFORD ROAD.

On Wednesday, the 17th, a concert in aid of the organ fund 1 - took plnoc in the school. Kind friends from New Plymouth came to our aid, ond gave songs and recitations, which greatly assisted in makeng the affair a
success. The concert added £3 4s to the fund. The following ladies and gentlemen gave items :— Organ solos, Mrs J. Gilbert and Miss Littlepage ; duets, Misses Smith (Omata), Miss Greenhill and Mr W. J. Greenhill ; songs, Miss Cannell (New Plymouth), Mrs J. Gilbert, Miss Kendall, Miss Greenhill, Mrs Kidd, Mr Lovell, Mr Tate, Mr W. Putt, and the ' Rev. R J. Williams, who also gave a humourous recitation. The last-named item, and (Miss Greenhill's song, "I've fi-ot my eyes on you-o-o," cause*? our New Plymouth friends for their visit, and hope to see them on some future occasion, when should wo hay* another successful concert, I think th<> debt on the organ would be enftiiely swept away. As the organ has b«-en placed in the school for Divine sirvices in connection with all ilwiominations, we would appeal to each denomination to do what it can to assist us in clearing off the remainder of the debt. Refreshments were provided by the ladies at the close of the concert, and as far as I .could set> everyone left very well satisfied with the evening's amusement. A danco followed, when about eighteen otwenty couples enjoyed themselves until about one o'clock, music being supplied by Mr W. Putt- Mr McMillan was M.C
