A youth named Alfred flillier, aged IS years, a son of a Blacksball resident, arrived in Wanganui to-day after undergoing a terrible experience. He left Whangamoiniona on flMDondiay last witli the intention of reaching the (Wanganui river to search for work. Tn crossing -the Whangamomona river he lost his swag and boots, and for the five days following was lost in tlio biush. He had nothing to e a t and was on the verge of starvation iwhen he ; reached the Wanganui river. Cttie of [Messrs IHatrick & Co/s launches came past about a -.cfuartor of am hour later, but Hillicr was too weak to signal. Fortunately he was observed by a passenger, and taken on board. He "Was admitted to the hospital to-day, but will in all probability be about ag-ain in a day or two.
