PUNGAREUU.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) An accident that might have been attended with serious consequences occurred at the Dairy Factory lest week. A^ horse attached to Messrs Guy Bios, at a great rate down the f actory road butchfr's cart took fright and galoped Turning into the main road, it ran into a fence and capsized the trap, doing considerable damage. Fortunately no one was hurt. The recreation reserve near *-c tactory has now teen vested in a local Domain Board consistmg of -tessrs M. Fleming, J. Rutherford, G. Wade, H. Symonl, and L. Pelham. At the first meeting Mr M. Fleming was appointed ahkinniu, and Mr S. Pelham hon. sec It was decided to endeavour to get the Governor's consent to a loase ot the domain, the tenant to fence, plough, and grass the whole section. A cricket club has been formed here and, principally through the efforts of Mr G Wade, it has already a membership of 50. Mr J. B Knowles was elected captain, and Mr R. Knowl* hon. sec. On account of the milking season, there has not been much play vet, but a challenge has been received from "Okato, and I hear that Rahotu and Warea, are also anxious for a game, so there will probably be several matches played soon. Five Hawera High School boys who were making a tour round the mountain camped here for two nights last week They visited Parihaka,, Cape Egmont lighthouse, ener other sights in the neighbourhood, and appear to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves, although the weather was not very g The Cape Egmont Horticultural Society's Committee met on Saturday last and fixed March 3rd as the date of their sixth annual show. There i* every prospect of a good show, as the season, has, so far, been better than the average. Parihaka is almost deserted now, nearly all the able-bodied men with their families having gone on their annual grass-seeding expedition to Ji«ltham and other places round the mountain.
