EXHIBITION AT CONVENT.

The exhibition of work by the pupils of the Convent High -School was held in the large class-room this afternoon. There was a large attendance of parents and friends of the pupils?, and general admiration was expressed at the variety and quality of the work on exhibition. There was every evidence in the exhibition that tho pupils had received careful and thorough tuition from the Sisters, who give all the instruction in tbe High School. A special piece of' work was an alb, part of a clerical vestment, which hotel been executed by Miss K. Hearn." There was an excellent exhibition of cushions in fancy designs. Those done by Mrs H. O'Brien and Miss O'Brien, who received instruction from the Sisters, were notablj good specimens ; and Misses V. Vooia, Si>. Caldwell. M. Mcßwan also had some nice cushions. Miss 0'-

Brien showed two pretty cushions, Misses McEwan, .Hay, Jackson, am) E. Cock also had nice specimens oil exhibition. There were several prettily designed centre pieces adorning the walls of the walls of the class-room. A lace piece by Miss Hcarn, and another by Miss O'Brien were especially noticeable* Misses McEwan and Hay also exhibited some good specimens. The silk embroidery work was a special feature, Misses K. Hearn and McEwan having prominent .specimens ; and apiece by Miss D. Sheffield was tvlso much admired. Miss McGurr showeYl a splendid piece of drawn thread work in the shape ol a tray cloth, and Miss Cattley's supper cloth in the same class of work was neatly executed. Three handsomely designed piano stools by Misses Calgher, Stott, and Stoddart displayed artistic taste. A toilet set by Miss Stott and a table cover worked in Flemish lace by Miss Bradley, were good speciir. ?ns of fancy work. There were several pretty tea cosies, those worked by Miss McGurr being- prominent. The Mt. Mellick work was well executed, specimens by Miss Bennett coming in . for a great deal of commendation. In white needle-work thtere was a good display. Misses Sutton, Woods, Caldwell, Sheffield, and M. Sheehy being the principal contributors. Some pretty tie satchels by Misses Sutton, Hawkins, Heam, Arundel, McEwan, and Calgher were nicely finished. The Kindergarten classes showed . some good specimens of needle-work. Cushions in wool work by Misses M. Sheehy and V. Cummins were well executed. v - The panel arid oil paintings exhibited much artistic skill. Miss McEwan had several exhibits ; Miss N. Sutton also had several specimens and a pretty painted fire screen; Misses McGilligan and Humphrey also displayed taste in panels and oil paintings. Miss K. Hearn had two excellent crayon -■• drawings, and Miss 1 Calgher two well finished panels. The exhibition was tastefully arranged, and looked very effective. , PRESENTATION OF PRLES. At 2.30 the presentation of prizes ' ! took place. Among those present ! were the Rev. Dean McKenna, ' and < Mr R. Cock, the Mayor. CENTRAL SCHOOL. The Central School broke up for Xmas holidays this morning. The Mayor presented the prizes. Several addresses were made during the proceedings.
