A committee meeting of the Caledonian Society was held at the Bridge Hotel on Monday evening. Mr McArtney was voted to the chair? It was resolved that Messrs J. A. Smythe's and 11. Spurdle's names be added ' to the committee. The secretary ( of the T a riki sports wired informing tho committee that their sports takes place on February 25th. Correspondence was read from the secretary of the New Zealand Caledonian Society, forwarding a copy of rules for perusal, also stating: that a fee of £2 2s was required for subscription and entrance fee, also wishing the sports every success/- Xho secretary asked whether it would be advisable to engage the Wanganui Fipe Band, seeing that there wore ko many local pipers in the district. The date of the sports was fixed for February 4th. It was resolved that the secretary communicate with the Taranaki pipers, to ascertain if they would guarantee to attend tho sports. Kesolved that Mr McLcod, of Ingle wood, be appointed honorary piper. ' Mr Smythe stated that he had interviewed Mr Brown in regard ,to having a Maori haka arranged to bo added to the programme. Mr Brown, being prosesrt., stated that he thought ne would bo able to arrange a baka competition. Tt was resolved that the mat tin* lie considered when drawing up the programme. Messrs R. '-J'ate, M. Spurdic, W. Snell, and J. Williamson were appointed to draw up the programme to be submitted to a general meeting on Thursday next. Jt was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Association Caledonian Society, tt was resolved that Mr Shannon, of Wellington, be appointed handicapper,

and Messrs J. Paul and J. D. Wyllie judges. Starter, Mr JR. Vate ; timekeeper, Mr E. Salt ; protest committee, Messrs E. T a te, H. Spurdle, J. A. Smythe, W. Loveridge, W. «Nell- Mr D. McKinnon Bain was appointed director of musical events. The mee£ ing then adjourned until Thursday evening 1 next, at 8 o'clock.
