Small-pox.
OUTBREAK IN LAU'NOBSTON.
DEFECTIVE DIAGNOSIS. United Press Association.— By Elec-Telejrraph.--Copyright. Received June 23, 9.25 a.m. Launceston, June 23. There have been several cases of supposed measles in the Hospital lately. In the fifth instance, the patient, Duggan. died, and nurse Cash subsequently developed similar symptoms, and died yesterday. The disease has now been diagnosed as small pox. Two porters and another nurse, and tlie laundress in the Hfo^pital were also attacked, but are now convalescent. Three other cases are reported in different pai'ts of the town.

The outbreak of small pox has caused consternation. The doctors are rrvuch blamod for failing to either diagnose the disease earlier or else for keeping its nature concealed.
The source of the outbreak is a mystery. A passenger by the Gracchus has been in town for several weeks, but, ho daily reported himself to tho doctors who failed to discover any suspicious symptoms.
