MEMORIAL TO TARANAKI TROOPERS. To the Editor.
Sir,— May I, through your columns, ask the relatives or friends of those members of the various contingents, who lost their lives in the South African .war, either in battle or by disease, and who claim Taranaki as their birthplace or home, to kindly send in the names of such, so that they may be placed on the memorial to be erected in St. Mary's Churchyard. The work will be put in hand at once, and to prevent delay it is necessary that these names be obtained as early as possible. Only the manes of Taranaki troopers will be placed on this memorial, Taranaki meaning the old Provincial District, extending from Molcau in the North to Whenuakura in the South, and inland to the Wanganui River.— l am &c, j S." W. SHAW, j For Committee St. Mary's Troopers Memorial.
