Sir, — There can be little doubt that the time has arrived for more than a casual mention in reference to the supply, quality, and pressure of the gas supplii d by the local company. For some tin c past the wretched light supplied by the company has been the theme for conversation anything but complimentary to the company. The reason, I think is net hard to discover. The rapid advance ment of the town and the extra call for light, combined with the rm ios which are inadequate for so large a system, will, I think, partly explain 1h.3 reason why we are subjected to such an apology for a light. '1 he task of getting through your evening paper is now no light one. The incandescent burners are a splendid improvement on the old style, but they are very sensitive and require a full pressure of gas to k-ep them steady, which is not forthcoming. The question is :, Are the Gas Company going to allow this state of affairs to continue ? If so. then the sooner we go in for electricity the better. — I am, &c,
