When. 1 Dalke* '-be- . came manager' at Carnarvon he cleared them out, and they- settled at the Meteor Downs statjon. . They were several times before the Court! for horse stealings and faking brands, and last month were fined £40 for travelling stock without a permit. This maddened them, and they decided to take to the road and threatened vengeance. They- raided the Merivale '..station, and stuck up a, Chinaman and a contractor. A black" tracker states that Dalke and Doyle met three of the Kennifs and caught one after a chase. The others returned and opened fire. The tracker saw Dalke "fall from 'hisr horse, and galloped off, the Kennifs pursuing him. "He returned when they had gone, and found blood and signs of a desperate "encounter. Received April 5, 10 a.m. , Brisbane, April 5. — Ther,e is great excitements in the districts- . where the Kennifs ,are out. -The general supposition is that, after shoo.ting Dalke they shot Doyle, and carried off the bodies on pack horses.
