COMPETITION AT ELTHAM, (Per Press Association).

Eltham, November 11.— The first gathering of the N.Z. Axemen's Association was held on Saturday, and was a great success, about ISOO people being present. Results :—: —

Novice Chop, 18 inch block.— Wrick 1, Ford 2, Jenkins 8. Time, 3min 20 4-ssec. Maiden Handicap, 18 inch block.' — Burns (20 sec) 1, Wrick (20sec) 2, Volzke (15sec) 3. Time, 3min 6 l-sth sec.

Rip Sawing. — Ainoore 1, Hardy 2, Lund 3. Time, 5a 2-ssec.

N.Z. Championship Chop. — Casey 1, Hutton 2, Pettit 3. Time, smin 51 l-ssec.

Double Hand Sawing.— Wrick Bros. (6ft 4in) 1, Casey and Mate (sft lOin) 2, Pettit and Hutton (sft 7in) 3. Time, 32 2-ssec.

Handicap Chop, 18 inch block. — Hutton (scr) 1, Burns (35sec) 2, Pettit (lOsec) 8, Volzke (25sec) li Time, 2min 36sec.

Single Hand Sawing Championship — 24 inch block. — Pettit (who comes from Tasmania) 1. Time, lmin 18}secs. Pettit has held. < the championship of the world the last two years, his best time being lmin 49secs. This year ho beat thia by 30±secs. He is now living in Taranaki.

Underhand Chop.— Hutton (scr) 1, Hay wood (20secs) 2, Burns (20secs) 3. Time, 2min 33 2-sth sees. Single Hand Sawing Handicap, 24 inch blocks.— Hutton 1, Wrick 2.
