The annual meeting of the Clifton Rowing Club was held ot the Bridge Hotel on Monday evening, the chair being occupied by Mr C. Johnson, captain of the club. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed. The balancesheet showing a credit balance of £29 15s 3d was adopted, including a balance from the previous year of £8 17s 7d, the principal items of receipts were donations £6 19s, members' subscriptions £5, winnings at regatta £26. The following officer? were elected for the ensuing year : President, Mr A, W. Ogle ; VicePresidents, Messrs Ridmond, Mills. Gray, Kibby, Mclntosh, Elliot, W. Nosworthy, W. F. Newbery ; captain, Mr J. Cain ; Deputy-Captain, Mr C. Johnson ; Secretary, Mr H. Spurdle Management Committee, Captain and Deputy-Captain (ex officio), Messrs H. Johnson, T. Tel far, W. Jury, T. Goddard, G. Mair, IT. raltridge, and W. Telfar ; Selectior Committee (held over). The subscription was fixed nt the same a? previous year. Tlie sum of £5 was donated towards procuring trophies to be rowed for by members of the Club, the following being appointed a trophy committee, Messrs J. Telfar ( H. Spurdle, and T. Buchanan. A number of new members wore duly" elected.

The Captain, Deputy-Captain, and Secretary were appointed a sub-com-mittee to arrange for the purchase of new oars. A donation of £3 3s was voted to the secretary for services.

The annual monthly meeting of the School Committee takes place this evening. - .

The Rifles did not • muster very strong at the Bell Block attack or Monday, but those who did #o were more than satisfied with tho cap tures they made, one youthful member returning home adorned with r leather medal.

Only a few business people observed November 9th as the King'p birthday, the majority holding high holiday on Monday. There was o good, deal of grumbling over the mix up, but if will have good effect for a future occasion.
